Remembrances" examines the importance of human memory in constructing our psychological reality. We have a choice in how we remember the experiences of our past. We can choose the tone of those memories. We may also choose to let those memories that do not serve us fall away, as a leaf falls from a tree in autumn. In "Remembrances", trees and the energy of autumn are used as a metaphor for this process.
Trees are sentinel beings, stoically standing guard over the earth in which they root themselves. Their life spans are far greater than our own. They are witnesses to everything that occurs beneath their branches. Perhaps they store those memories in their leaves. Each leaf holding a moment in time. Yet every year they shed those leaves in a microcosmic cycle of death and rebirth. So too, may we shed that which we no longer need and birth ourselves anew.
